Annual prom dress giveaway set for Sunday

For high school students in need of a prom dress, they'll have their pick Sunday at the second annual Once Upon a Prom: Prom Dress Giveaway.The giveaway is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Muskingum County Conference and Welcome Center, 205 N. Fifth St. The event is free and open to the public, but attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable canned good to donate to Eastside Community Ministry.More than 300 dresses were donated for this year's event — ball gowns, mermaid dresses, short, long, sequined and in all kinds of colors, said Debbie Dennis, a multimedia sales and advertising specialist with the Times Recorder.The Times Recorder, a sister paper of the Tribune, is partnering with Eastside and the Welcome Center, along with other sponsors such as Jillian's and Olde Town Cleaners, to host the dress giveaway.
