Polk State CFO ‘VP of Everything Else'

First, it was in Texas for Peter Elliott, in Austin, then with his Boy Scout troop at the football games in College Station. That city doubled in population during the school year, he remembers. Then, it was off to Gainesville, following his father in a move between his junior and senior years of high school. A move that gave him pause when he had to decide when to move his own children. Another move, another city, another college. He graduated high school in Gainesville, faced with the opportunity to attend the school where his father was a department head. The same dad who moved him before he got to enjoy a senior prom with his Texas friends. Elliott chose to be a Seminole. "I left," he laughs. These on-trend Discount Homecoming Dresses for sale are not only stylish, they're seriously wallet-friendly!

Whether it was growing up in college towns or being the child of two people entrenched professionally in education, Elliott, 54, vice president of administration and chief financial officer for Polk State College, has always been magnetized toward higher learning. "Throughout my career, I've been around higher education, and at the end of the day,the bags are glitzy and youthful and fun Discount Unique round neck A-line Sleeveless Beaded evening/prom dresses. this is the part of high education I want to be in," Elliott said. "Education changes everything. Period. It changes the trajectory on people's futures. It changes the trajectory on families' futures." Peter Scott Elliott was born Nov. 20, 1959, in Downey, Calif., to Roger and Lori Elliott of New Braunfels, Texas.I want to be able to pass on something to her that I created Wholesale Cheap Organza Strapless Tiered Ruffle Skirt With Flowers Crystal Sexy A-line Wedding Dresses Roger Elliott taught college and Lori Elliott taught children.

"My father was a college professor, my mother had a college degree," Elliott said. "There was never any question I was going to college." His decision to attend Florida State set the stage for the rest of his life, both personally and professionally. He met his wife, Kathryn, and after graduation, he got a job in Tallahassee working for the state auditor's office. He remembers the exact moment when he realized that, although accounting kept his brain stimulated, he was meant to bring his talents to school. He was auditing Florida State University. "On that audit, I really kind of gelled around the idea of working at a college, on the business side of things," he said. "Growing up in all these college towns, I really enjoyed being on campus and being involved." Now, in one of the most important roles at a school with more than 16,000 degree-seeking students, Elliott finds himself dealing with all aspects of a student's life. Staff members call him the "Vice President of Everything Else."

"You're talking about keeping students warm or cool," Elliott says when describing his job. "You're paying people, handling personnel issues. It's a broad scope." Elliott, the former vice president of Broward College in South Florida, arrived at Polk State as the college was preparing to expand in a big way. "I consider him to be the best CFO in the state," says David Steele, who has worked with Elliott for three years, as associate vice president of communications. "A lot of the successes we've experienced over the past few years are directly related to that brilliant decision to get him here from Broward," Steele said. "Because of his style, he flies under the radar. I think he is just one of the county's best kept secrets."
