There are two famous and successful women in this picture.Red is the sign of femininity and sex appeal cheap fashion school girl outfits It is that one color that is every womans wardrobe. The one on the left, as you'll know, is the Academy Award-winning actress and businesswoman, Gwyneth Paltrow.

The other one designed the dress she's wearing - and is clutching the International Designer of the Year gong, which she had just claimed at the British Fashion Awards.

Some of you will recognise her, but I think more won't - she's Miuccia Prada, designer and owner of the eponymous elite fashion brand.

The company was founded in 1913 by her grandfather as a luxury luggage brand. In the mid-1980s Ms Prada - Miu Miu to her friends, hence the name of her other brand - had the idea to expand into handbags, then shoes and clothes. The rest is fashion history.

You may be a little surprised at the way she looks, not to mention the way she's dressed for a gala occasion to which many guests wore dazzling red carpet gowns. In a pleated skirt and a simple short-sleeved sweater, nary a jewel or a smidgen of make-up to be seen, she's dressed like a school teacher from a country town in 1955 - just with better shoes.

Did I mention she's the ninth-richest woman in the world? If we're mean to her for looking - is frumpy too harsh a word? - she can wipe her tears away with one of her $13.6 billion (Forbes).

I don't mind the way she looks here. I'd much rather see someone dressed like this than the way Donatella Versace gets around.

When you know a bit more about Ms Prada's life, it does start to make sense. She is, for example, the only major fashion designer I know of who has a PhD in political science. After finishing that she spent the next five years studying mime.It does not issue whether bikini string you might have difficulties in distinguish them in any respect. Five years! Mime! What do you think you would do after the first couple of weeks? You've got the glass box down pat, you can do happy/surprised/sad, you've got the striped T-shirt … then what?

After that - and even after she had joined the family business - she was a serious activist in the Italian Communist party and at the full heat of the 1970s women's movement.

Now, if there are two political persuasions more at odds with the most elite luxury-end of fashion than those two, I've never heard of them. Yet she just quietly segued from suggesting the family firm did a backpack in the superstrong waterproof nylon used by the Italian army to overseeing one of the most important of all trend-setting labels on earth. With him running the commercial side, her highly intellectual (the PhD) and somewhat fey (the mime) brain was free to come up with fabulous ideas for how modern women might want to dress.

All in all, I think she's earned the right to dress however she pleases. Something we can all aspire to achieve by the age of 64.There is no harm in doing it but opt for the right outfit crotchless swimwear all you dont want to look foolish.

Even if you're not a self-made billionaire creative genius, you can still know who you are and really be it.
